Contact: Caroline Trinder

I am a Registered General Nurse and completed my training at The Royal London Hospital in 1987.  I have gained extensive Clinical and Managerial experience as a General Nurse for over 20 years.

For 6 years I worked as a Junior Ward Sister on a Neurosurgical Ward caring for patients undergoing all types of spinal and brain surgery.  Following this I was the Ward Manager of an Orthopaedic/General Surgical Ward (and often in charge of the hospital when required) for over 9 years.

I consolidated my skills within the rehabilitation arena and have since worked as a Case Manager for an Independent rehabilitation provider in London for 6 years. This involved performing bio-psycho-social Immediate Needs Assessments on injured clients who had often sustained complex, catastrophic physical injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and psychological trauma. Detailed reports were written and recommendations made to Claimant Solicitors, Insurance Companies and Employers and complex rehabilitation programmes were coordinated for injured clients. Of particular interest is working with clients who have sustained traumatic brain injuries, multiple musculoskeletal injuries, and amputees.  My role has involved assessing care needs, attending multidisciplinary NHS case reviews, reviewing care packages, and liaising with Primary Care Trusts, Social Services, Employers, and providing invaluable support to families.

I have communicated closely with Headway when assisting our clients, and regularly attend ABIL. (Acquired brain injury Forum -  London).  I am also actively meeting brain injury case managers and rehabilitation providers to ensure excellent quality care once funding has been agreed for rehabilitation.

I am an active member of BABICM (British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers).  I also regularly participate in the Neurotrauma team meetings within the London office.  As a member of Irwin Mitchell's national Client Liaison Team I will continue to work alongside a range of professionals to provide the help and support needed for individuals and families to adjust to life after an injury.
