Maria worked in the NHS for 22 years and then moved to the private sector where she set up Preceptorship programmes in Orthopaedics. Maria then moved to BUPA as a case manager for 4 years to plan, manage and accredit Pain Management Programmes all over the country. Maria moved to Manchester University for 12 months researching the Sudden Death of Young Adults and then for the next 5 years she worked as a Rehabilitation Case Manager which involved structuring and resourcing comprehensive clinical and vocational rehabilitation programmes.
Maria has also qualified as a Disability Assessor accredited by the Secretary of State. Maria joined Irwin Mitchell as a Client Liaison Manager in the Manchester office in January 2010. Her role is to assess the individual needs of our clients that are referred from the PI / Clin Neg team.
Following assessment the priority is to co-ordinate appropriate services and support for families, educate the individual client, their family and carers regarding the implications of their changed life style as a result of injury and to liaise with social services and other care professions about ongoing care needs for the client whilst providing practical support with day to day issues such as budgeting, benefits, care, aids and equipment, accommodation issues and generally monitoring the progress of the rehabilitation to maintain a consistent and co-ordinated approach.
