About Caroline's role
My work almost exclusively involves working with people with brain injury (from mild to severe). My particular interest is in working with children and young adults.
Charity and community work
In 1999, I helped to set up the South Yorkshire Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) Support Group and have been involved to date in a variety of roles. One such role is as organiser of an annual 18 mile Sponsored Walk. I am also a committee member of Headway Barnsley.
Memberships and professional organisations
Member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and CBIT.
Cases of mention
Van Oudenhoven v Griffin Inns. In this case, a blackboard in a pub fell on to my clients head, causing momentary loss of consciousness. There was a major dispute between the parties as to the extent of injury. We were able to prove that the client had suffered significant brain damage and secured substantial damages.
Webber v Hunt and others. This case involved a severely brain damaged young woman whose former legal advisors had significantly undervalued her case. A professional negligence action was brought resulting in a significant additional award of damages for my client.
Spare time and hobbies
I enjoy hill walking, travel, cooking, entertaining and (assisting with) house renovations. I am also developing an interest in gardening (needs must!).
