About Carolyn's role
I head a small team of solicitors who specialise in dealing with complex head and brain injury claims for both adults and children.
Community and charity work
I have close links with Headway, having previously been on the committees of Sheffield and Bradford Headways, and the Child Brain Injury Trust and have helped to raise funds for both over the years.
Memberships and professional organisations
I am a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Cases of mention
Earlier this year (2009) I settled a claim for a young person who sustained a severe head injury in a road traffic crash. A settlement was agreed at just over £6m.
I represented a child who was run over on her way to school. The child is now reliant upon a wheelchair and has severe ongoing memory, concentration and other problems. Her claim settled for £4m, after a deduction for contributory negligence, and involved housing/social services issues that went before the Court of Appeal.
During my time as a lawyer I have obtained damages for clients, on a full liability basis, in the region of £100m.
Spare time and hobbies
I enjoy going to the cinema and have recently taken up running.
