Essex Teenager Returns Home After Suffering Horrific Brain Injuries
02/02/2010
16-year-old Jack Horton has returned home after suffering serious brain injuries when he was involved in a horrific car crash.
Jack was injured when a young driver lost control of his car and ploughed into Jack and his friends, killing one and injuring eight others.
The teenager from Great Wakering in Essex spent five months on a life-support machine but has now returned home, although he remains in a state of low awareness.
Jack’s family have carried out major building work at their home to make it a suitable environment for him. A physiotherapy area, wet room and accommodation for carers have all been added to the family home.
Jack’s father, Andy, has started legal proceedings in order to recover damages for Jack’s injuries and the on-going care required. Alison Eddy of Irwin Mitchell, assisted by Natalie Spurrier, is representing the Hortons and said, “Jack’s family are delighted to have him home, although his injuries remain substantial. A lot of work has been carried behind the scenes to ensure he receives the funds necessary to provide all the care and support he needs.”
