Neurocare Gets a Head Start

23/08/2010

Earlier this year, Stacy Gee, Solicitor in our Neurotrauma team, took part in the inaugural Head Start 5k run at Rother Valley Country Park. The event was organised to raise funds for Neurocare, a fantastic Sheffield based charity which raises funds to purchase cutting edge neurosurgical equipment for the neurosciences department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. Neurocare is a charity close to our heart at Irwin Mitchell as many of our clients who have sustained a brain injury are treated at the Hallamshire.

The Head Start run attracted over 300 people and raised several thousand pounds overall. It is hoped that the number of runners (and the funds raised) will continue to grow over the coming years.

Stacy, who laced up her trainers for the first time in aid of Neurocare, raised £165.00 and completed the circuit of the two lakes in just over 30 minutes. "It was a fantastic day, "Stacy said, "the sunshine came out for us and the atmosphere was brilliant. All of the runners were supporting and encouraging each other, and I will definitely be back next year hoping to raise more money for Neurocare".
