Leading Head Injury Law Firm Sponsors Theo's Games
06/08/2010
On 17 July 2010, staff from the Sheffield Neurotrauma Team attended at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield to provide assistance for the inaugural “Theo’s Games”.
Theo’s Games is a fundraising initiative organised by the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity and is based around the concept of the 2012 Olympics. The day was aimed at children of all ages and abilities, and featured 5 exciting events including the high jump, long jump, soft javelin and bean bag shot put.
Each child was asked to raise at least £20.12 in sponsorship money, with the day also incorporating the traditional 3k fun run organised annually by the charity.
The day was a great success (despite some very grey and drizzly skies to begin with!!), and all the children had fun honing their sporting talents in such a fabulous arena. See photographs!
Irwin Mitchell sponsored the soft javelin event, and team members were on hand to volunteer on the day. Despite the windy conditions, it was great to see the kids having such a good time, and throwing some truly impressive distances!
The dedication of the staff, children and parents who turned up was evident in the number of participants in the 3k run around the stadium. Many of the entrants were running to raise money for the charity because of a friend or relative who had benefitted from the excellent care of the staff at the hospital. Just marshalling the run was tiring enough, never mind running it!
The Children’s Hospital Charity is planning on holding the event again next year, and it is hoped that even more children will turn up to take part. The Irwin Mitchell Team will also be proud to sponsor such a truly worthwhile event next year, and look forward to getting back out on the track!
