New Test May Help Detect Concussion In Athletes

25/02/2010

The test involves asking an athlete to catch a falling object. If the athlete is too slow to catch it, they are likely to have concussion.

Concussions are common in sport, particularly contact sports such as rugby. There is no consensus on how soon an athlete should be able to return to action following concussion.

The test will allow coaches and trainers to assess whether their athletes have fully recovered, even when obvious symptoms may have passed.
