Retired GP Invents Safer Motorbike Helmet

The helmet, called Superskin, features an outer membrane that can stretch and slide on impact, much like the human skull. This movement reduces rotational impact by 50% and the possibility of brain damage by 75%.

Almost 500 motorcyclists die each year in the UK and more than 5,000 are seriously injured.

The motorbike helmet is available now and work is ongoing on similar helmets for horse riders.
