What our clients say...

I just want to thank you for all your support and patience in dealing with the complexities of my claim... your positive approach and reassurance kept me going at the times when I just felt like running away from it all... I am sure others are now benefitting from your expertise and caring manner.

Rehabilitation after Head Injury

It is well recognised that with a programme of specialist treatment from therapists and medical staff, the process of recovery after a brain injury can be given a huge lift. Early specialist head injury rehabilitation can make the biggest difference in helping to bring about improvements. We pride ourselves in our long history of being at the forefront of developing rehabilitation services for our clients.

Rehabilitation, often shortened to "rehab", is absolutely key to overcoming the effects of a head or brain injury, and we place it at the centre of our services for our clients. Rehab can mean different things to different people, but it usually involves having specialist help to work towards a goal (or several goals), such as improving physical fitness, being able to carry out different tasks around the house or returning to a previous job or even a hobby. It’s about getting back what you have lost in a way that moves you forward.

Putting rehabilitation first

What can we do that makes a difference?

We work alongside healthcare specialists to support your treatment. Sometimes, because of where you live, or limited resources, you might not get all the rehab you might need free of charge from the health service. We can therefore work with the insurance company dealing with a compensation claim to buy extra rehab and therapy for you.

This might include, for example:

  • Arranging for a programme of occupational therapy or physical therapies
  • Referring you to a specialist rehab centre, if that is required, for an intensive programme
  • Information to help educate you and those around you to assist with your recovery
  • Working alongside health and social care workers to get the best from your existing support.

Our work in this area is widely recognised; most recently in 2008 we received recognition in winning the Rehabilitation First Award in the category of Claimant’s Solicitors. Above all, we are careful to ensure that we only arrange rehabilitation with specialist providers who know and understand about head and brain injuries – not every rehabilitation company can give the right support for such specialist needs. Across the country, we have links with several brain injury rehabilitation services both in the NHS and privately all working towards putting our clients back on the road to recovery after a head injury.

What to expect

Any good rehabilitation model puts the "patient" at the centre. We will work with you to look at what your goals are, and what you think of the options, before you start a programme which we have referred you for. That programme can only work with your support, and works best with the help of those close to you, which is why it is so important for us to plan in advance with our clients. We may refer you to a specialist brain injury case manager to arrange and monitor your programme. If you have an effective rehab programme provided by your local health service, we will work alongside that so that you can get the best outcome and carry over what you have gained once you have completed your goals.
